Earle Roscoe Campbell Milliken, 86, of Lincoln Street,
Unionville, Conn., husband of the late Marilyn E. (Morrisey)
Milliken, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Marlboro Health Care
Center. He was born Sept. 18, 1914, in Sydney, Nova Scotia, son
of the late Earle L. and Elgie (Campbell) Milliken.
He resided in Unionville for 53 years. Mr. Milliken retired
from the Department of the Navy as a supervisory quality
assurance specialist at Pratt & Whitney after 28½ years. He
was a member of the Farmington Police Department, a former
captain in the Civil Air Patrol, Aux., USAF in Connecticut and
Florida; a member of the American Budgerigar Society. As
president of the Budgie Club of Connecticut, he enjoyed raising
and showing parakeets. He did research in the nutrition and
diseases of birds in conjunction with the University of
Connecticut. He owned and operated "Budgie Barracks"
in his home in Unionville. Mr. Milliken was active in the Boy
Scouts of America, and the Lake Garda Fife and Drum Corps. He
was an avid Red Sox fan and had a deep love for Cape Cod.
He is survived by two daughters, Joan M. Finn of Hancock and
Marilyn Milliken of Ashford, Conn.; one son, Charles E. Milliken
of Unionville; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons,
Earle R. Milliken and Robert E. Milliken; a grandson, Jason L.
Potter; a brother, Edmond E. Milliken, and a sister, Margaret
Campbell.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church,
35 Harris Rd., Avon, Conn., on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at 11
a.m., with the Rev. John C. Whitnah officiating. There are no
calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his
memory to the Farmington Police Benevolent Association, P.O. Box
62, Farmington, CT 06034. Arrangements are being handled by the
Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rte. 4, Unionville.
