The county seat for Hancock County, Ellsworth is one of the most exciting small cities in Maine and one of the safest in the country. Packed with history, it has an inviting, easily walked downtown filled with unique stores, food venues, and its art deco landmark, the Grand Theatre. While the city has a population of less than 7,000, its energy and prosperity is deep. That's due in part to its neighboring Bar Harbor region. Nearby Acadia National Park attracts millions of visitors each year, and Ellsworth is the gateway. Many Ellsworth residents first fell in love with the area through a visit to Acadia.

Yet Ellsworth has a beauty and charm all its own. Located along the Union River, its history as a lumber port and shipbuilding center can still be seen in its many beautiful buildings. One home in particular, the Woodlawn Museum, preserves life in 19th century Maine for thousands of visitors each year. Ellsworth is also home to a lovely wildlife sanctuary called Birdsacre located amidst a telephone museum, quiet trails, and picnicking spots along the Union River and Ellsworth Falls.

Ellsworth is conveniently located near the many educational, healthcare, and shopping resources of the Bangor region. But Ellsworth residents need not travel even the 30 miles to Bangor for any of life's necessities. Ellsworth enjoys its own hospital, Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, a public marina, two golf courses, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, and a full suite of professional and retail services, from locally owned gems to national chains. The Hancock County Higher Education Center allows you to choose from 39 University of Maine and Eastern Maine Community College programs, from the associate level up to the graduate level, without leaving your hometown.

From near or far, Ellsworth offers a distinctive lifestyle. For those interested in theater, Ellsworth's Grand Theatre provides entertainment more than 330 days a year. Join one of Ellsworth's theater or choral groups for both adults and children. Locals or tourists can appreciate the neighboring town of Trenton and enjoy their Seacoast Fun Park, take in the Lumberman's Show, or eat a fresh steamed lobster at one of the "lobster pounds" on Route 1A.

    ...always going the extra mile...

    * I worked in Real Estate in Santa Barbara, California for 15 years before moving in 2004 to a family summer home in Hancock. My early 1800's cape-style home, set on 10 wooded acres, gives me a good working knowledge of what it takes to update and maintain an older house with land in the Downeast region.

*I enjoy helping both seasoned and first time buyers experience the joy of owning that special place they dreamed of finding. When working with buyers, I use my 20+ years of knowledge and practical experience to successfully overcome any challenges that arise during the real estate transaction.

    * I also have an extensive background in Commercial sales and leasing, including having been a Restaurant/Bar business broker specialist in the Santa Barbara region representing both sellers and buyers.

*In my private time I am working on completing a chapbook of poems for submission for publication. In the community, I have greatly enjoyed having had the privilege of being trained and then volunteering with our local Hospice organization. For relaxation I relish a quiet afternoon of exploring Acadia National Park's hiking trails, carriage trails, bogs and other magical spots.

Serving Hancock & Washington Counties, including Ellsworth, Gouldsboro, Bar Harbor and more.

I have worked in various aspects of the real estate industry for the past 40 years. My experience encompasses real estate investment trusts, commercial real estate, and condominiums, but the majority of time has been in residential, land and waterfront real estate.

I love Maine! I love the water, the mountains - all the outdoor recreational opportunities - the beauty, and the solitude. I feel so grateful for being able to combine my love for the outdoors and my knowledge of this business to have the best of both worlds. I have a strong "people" personality, with the ability to be upbeat in difficult situations. I feel that the important things in life are humor and having a positive outlook. These traits enable me to keep a steady hand in stressful real estate transactions and to serve you to the best of my ability.

    Personal / Comments

Although I have several hobbies and interests (reading, metal detection, wreath making and golf), my wife, grown children and our four grandchildren preoccupy my personal life. Being a high school teacher at a hot tourist spot such as Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park gave me the opportunity for a diversity of interesting summer jobs: milkman, Customs Officer, encyclopedia salesman, blueberry factory worker and waiter in several restaurants (a position that helped me get my four children through college). Along with my teaching career, I supervised proms, fundraisers and graduations as senior class advisor; negotiated with the school board as spokesman for the teacher's association; and coached the high school golf team for 17 seasons. From these jobs and contacts, I know Hancock County -- its geography, its economics and its people -- very well! I'm not afraid to go for the pin, to split 10's, or to look a buyer in the eye and say "Make an offer!"
