The county seat for Hancock County, Ellsworth is one of the most exciting small cities in Maine and one of the safest in the country. Packed with history, it has an inviting, easily walked downtown filled with unique stores, food venues, and its art deco landmark, the Grand Theatre. While the city has a population of less than 7,000, its energy and prosperity is deep. That's due in part to its neighboring Bar Harbor region. Nearby Acadia National Park attracts millions of visitors each year, and Ellsworth is the gateway. Many Ellsworth residents first fell in love with the area through a visit to Acadia.

Yet Ellsworth has a beauty and charm all its own. Located along the Union River, its history as a lumber port and shipbuilding center can still be seen in its many beautiful buildings. One home in particular, the Woodlawn Museum, preserves life in 19th century Maine for thousands of visitors each year. Ellsworth is also home to a lovely wildlife sanctuary called Birdsacre located amidst a telephone museum, quiet trails, and picnicking spots along the Union River and Ellsworth Falls.

Ellsworth is conveniently located near the many educational, healthcare, and shopping resources of the Bangor region. But Ellsworth residents need not travel even the 30 miles to Bangor for any of life's necessities. Ellsworth enjoys its own hospital, Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, a public marina, two golf courses, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, and a full suite of professional and retail services, from locally owned gems to national chains. The Hancock County Higher Education Center allows you to choose from 39 University of Maine and Eastern Maine Community College programs, from the associate level up to the graduate level, without leaving your hometown.

From near or far, Ellsworth offers a distinctive lifestyle. For those interested in theater, Ellsworth's Grand Theatre provides entertainment more than 330 days a year. Join one of Ellsworth's theater or choral groups for both adults and children. Locals or tourists can appreciate the neighboring town of Trenton and enjoy their Seacoast Fun Park, take in the Lumberman's Show, or eat a fresh steamed lobster at one of the "lobster pounds" on Route 1A.

    Personal / Comments
A true, Mainer, I have devoted myself to a career in Real Estate and have a deep love for Acadia National Park and the surrounding Downeast Maine areas. With my 3 Labradors, I take advantage of all the outdoor activities this area has to offer such as hiking, biking and kayaking, and make it a point to "get out there" and see the countryside. I had always told my parents, when I was little, I wanted to grow up to be a "tour guide" for this area. Well, I guess I'm as close to that as you can get, and glad to share my love of the area with my clients.

    Personal / Comments

Having lived in one of the most beautiful regions in Maine for 35 years, selling real estate for 17 of those years has been an added bonus. With Acadia Park on our doorstep, where I hike the mountains regularly, and where you find some of the best sailing waters on the East Coast, this is a wonderful place to call home.

My varied listings of dramatic waterfront, beautiful historic homes (one of which has been in the same family for seven generations), tiny charming "cottages, and newly constructed turn-key houses make my showings a pleasure for the buyers and me.

I attribute my listing success and my sales ability to being a good listener.

They raised their children, horses, practiced organic gardening and Tom managed a 175-acre woodlot. In 2000 they moved to the Blue Hill Peninsula to enjoy the music and fine arts that characterize the area, as well as the wide variety of recreational opportunities.
