Although I have several hobbies and interests (reading, metal detection, wreath making and golf), my wife, grown children and our four grandchildren preoccupy my personal life. Being a high school teacher at a hot tourist spot such as Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park gave me the opportunity for a diversity of interesting summer jobs: milkman, Customs Officer, encyclopedia salesman, blueberry factory worker and waiter in several restaurants (a position that helped me get my four children through college). Along with my teaching career, I supervised proms, fundraisers and graduations as senior class advisor; negotiated with the school board as spokesman for the teacher's association; and coached the high school golf team for 17 seasons. From these jobs and contacts, I know Hancock County -- its geography, its economics and its people -- very well! I'm not afraid to go for the pin, to split 10's, or to look a buyer in the eye and say "Make an offer!"
